4Story : A New Era to PvP

4Story is a free to play client based MMORPG game devoloped by Zemi Interactive. It is said that much of its contents are very similar to World of Warcraft. However, its unique PvP system is what makes it stand out in the free to play game market.

There are three nations in the world of Iveria, the continent in 4Story. The continent is troubled by the continuous war that rages on between the two nations, Defugel and Craxion. Defugel is a military oriented society, so it has a more Urban like appearance. Craxion on the other hand was built by Wizards so it will have a more rural like appearance.

The war takes form in a form of a territory war every day at 19:00 ~ 19:30. The war will take place at 4 war zones and 12 territories. Each winner and the best runner up of the zone will participate in the Sacred War once a week to take possession of the zone. The winner will be the owner of the guild house.

During the weekends (or during a certain day of the week - may differ from server to server), all players with nationality will gather at a place called the Sky Garden to fight for their country in taking the fortress. The winning side will be able to enter the Maarduk or Hellfire dungeon.

As you can see, much of its system is devoted to PvP. There were and still are many complains of the lack of PVE system especially when the leveling speed is pretty high - it will take about a month to reach level 90, the level what used to be the highest level for many years. It was only on the November 2013 update in the global 4Story version when the level cap was finally released to level 93. The developer plans to increase the level cap to level 97 within the year of 2013.

To solve the lack of PVE system problem, 4Story has introduced a Dragon War system which is a mixture of PVE and PVP system. In the new Dragon War system, there will be a Dragon Lord appearing from the red hole in the sky with its dominion and its four underbosses. The player's mission would be to slay the four underbosses while dodging the attacks of the Dragon Lord.

Other than the unique PvP system, 4Story does have some Scenario quests, repeatable level up quests and some daily quests.

Each time you complete a daily quest, you will earn 1~3 Coins of Kether or Malkuth. Earn 50 Coins and you can exchange them with 1 pet Mysterybox, a random box which will yield one of 7 unique pets.

Originally pets are buffing animals that you need to raise with cash items. It usually raises some stats of the characters or gives certain skills. There are some cries between the players that the price is too high for them to raise. Of course some pet foods are dropped by monsters in the field, but more often then not, they are not enough to raise even one pet.

In the scenario quests, there are stories you can follow, but other than the last set quests I doubt they are story worthy. However, you should start the last set of quests that was introduced on the November 2012 update. This is the set of quests that leads you to the Clarsus Mountains, the new map for level 90 and up. It should tell you the basic storyline behind 4Story.

And finally, there are mission wars. Mission Wars are divided by levels of 10 so level 21 can't play with level 19 on the same Mission War Map. The idea was to give some PvP experience before reaching the top levels. However, you can join the lower level characters in the mission maps once you become a mentor of the low level characters. That's when your level shrinks.

Usually mission maps give high experience but is a war map and can be killed by your enemy kingdom players. There were some complaints about this, so the developers are planning on adding some new peaceful Mission War map pretty soon.
